SMS / Text Messaging Terms & Consent
Who we are
This messaging policy is provided by Addiction Recovery Legal Service, LLC, doing business as Marchman Act Legal Clinic ("MALC," "we," "us"), a Florida law firm that represents families in Marchman Act proceedings.
What our text messages are for
Text messaging is a service (transactional) feature of your legal representation. When you retain MALC, we send you SMS/text notifications so you never miss a time-sensitive development in your own case. These messages may include:
- Case status and stage updates
- Hearing dates, court scheduling, and reminders
- Requests for documents, signatures, or information we need to move your case forward
- Payment and intake confirmations
- Direct communications from your attorney or legal team about your matter
These are notifications about your own case. We do not send marketing, advertising, or promotional text messages, and we do not use text messaging for anyone other than our own clients.
How and when we collect your consent
Consent is collected at account sign-up. When you create your account on marchmanactlegalclinic.com, you enter your mobile phone number and check a consent box before your account is created. The text notifications are sent to the exact mobile number you enter on that form. The opt-in appears like this on our registration page:
Because timely text notifications are an integral part of how we represent you, agreeing to receive them is part of setting up your representation. If you do not wish to receive case notifications by text, please contact us before retaining the firm so we can discuss alternatives.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies and depends on the activity in your case — you may receive several messages in a busy week (for example, around a hearing) and none in a quiet period.
Message & data rates
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. MALC does not charge you for text messages; your carrier's standard rates apply.
Stopping messages / help
You may reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from further texts; your mobile carrier processes this automatically. Because these messages are essential service updates about your legal matter, if you opt out we will reach you by phone or email instead, which may slow time-sensitive communications about your case.
For help with text messages, or to update the mobile number on file, contact us directly at [email protected] or (877) 352-2873. We respond to help requests by phone and email rather than by automated text reply.
Privacy
We treat your mobile number and messaging consent as confidential. No mobile information or SMS opt-in data is shared with, sold to, or disclosed to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. Our full Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
